Hi, I'm Joel,
After many years of teaching, I noticed that children rarely struggle because they aren't capable. More often, they've simply stopped believing they can succeed.
I started Building Confident Learners to create small-group maths lessons where understanding comes first, confidence grows naturally, and every student feels comfortable asking questions.
My aim is simple: to help every learner leave each lesson feeling more capable than when they arrived.

A maximum of four students means everyone receives individual attention while benefiting from collaborative learning.

We’ve been using Joel for Maths tuition. We have two boys in years 9/10 and they’ve both really enjoyed the sessions and have definitely benefited from the extra 1-2-1 teaching he’s provided.
